29 big turkeys in our yard a few days ago before we got all the snow yesterday.  Today, there were a bunch of them roosting way up in the trees.  They don't like deep snow, I guess.

Grandparents Day and Thanksgiving

A few pictures from Thanksgiving.  We missed getting any pictures of the little boys except for baby Lucas and didn't get Braleigh either.  We'll have to do better next time.

Houston Quilt Show

Here's a sample of the 137 quilts that I took pictures of at the Houston Quilt Show.  I got Janel in one of them.  I am going to try to get 100 or so of them into a picasa album.  On Sunday, Janel and I walked around almost all of the big cemetery on Broadway.  I took pictures there until my camera battery gave out.  I need to go back and take some more.  It was so interesting.  There were graves there from the 1800's and even a few earlier than that.  There were well known people from Galveston's history, some who died in the 1900 storm, many veterans who were in the World Wars, Civil War, Spanish American War and War of 1812.  Some interesting carvings and inscriptions, of course.

61st St Fishing Pier

This is the newly rebuilt fishing pier at 61st St.  It looks nice and people are obviously enjoying using it.  The other wooden one that was down around 90th St is still a mess.

Bob at the Galveston Quilt Show

I went to the Customs House today in Galveston to see the Island Quilters Guild Show and there hanging right on the entrance door was by quilt of Bob.  The other one that I sent, the one with all the beading on it was in a nice spot inside with a big sign next to it "Please Don't Touch The Quilts".  It is a really good show with a lot of pretty and interesting quilts - a warm-up for the Houston Show the weekend after this.

James and Jocelyn came to visit yesterday.  She was working on a puzzle with Grandpa.  She now calls me Nana very clearly and is working on Grandpa.    In the last picture I told her to look at me and smile for a picture.                                                                     

Saturday morning

The first one is the one block wonder quilt.  The top is done, now it just needs quilting.  The other is what I have done so far on the mystery quilt from American Quilter magazine.  The instructions for finishing it will be in next month's magazine.  I need to crop this photo before I send it in to the mag.  They aren't going to want to see my books and all the other junk.                                         

FOL Quilt Hanging

We finally had our official hanging of the Friends of the Library Membership Tree quilt last night.  The Friends group and library staff are the ones who wanted an official hanging with a reception afterward.  I didn't think it was that big a deal and was afraid that no one would come.  But as it turned out, we had a fairly good turnout and it was very nice.  Mike took some good pictures.

 I think it will look better when we get more members and so have more leaves on there.  There are 105 now and Alma got 3 more memberships last night.  I told her to start a pile of leaves on the ground now.  That will look nice and the ground is a little bare at this point.  John drew us a nice design and I'm glad for all the help that I got.
